In comparison, siding replacement costs $3 to $11 per square foot when panels are too worn to paint.
Pressure cleaning is important as described, but just as important, it is to leave exterior siding 24-48 hours before any scraping, caulking, priming is done. Even though it is 85 degrees with low humidity you ask? .
It should be noted that the cost per room does have a wide variable due to the many factors that can alter the overall cost per room, such as the size of the surface that needs to be painted, price of the paint, condition of the room walls, and so on. For instance, if the painters will need to resurface your wall due to holes and cracks, this will add to the overall costs.

When it comes to removing lead from your home, it’s important to have a professional on your side. While it is possible to paint over lead paint, it has to be done in a specific way to effectively cover the potentially dangerous lead paint. This process is known as encapsulation. Regular water-based or oil-based paints won’t work. Instead, you’ll need to use paints specifically called “encapsulants.” Other methods may be used to remove lead paint, and each one has a different price tag. The process can cost anywhere from $8,000 to $15,000.
Painting can really add up so fast and be really expensive – but it’s interesting just how much money you were able to save. Plus, you learned so much and got a lot of experience that it’s probably worth it in the end. Jo February 25, 2015
If you just bought your home, it is hard to know when it was last painted. However, you can try to inquire about the paint job to plan out when your house might need a repaint job. The quality and type of paint used, how many coats were used, and the color used, all have an impact on longevity.
Most of the time a hollow sound can be heard if tapped on it. This paint must be scraped off, or new paint is surely to fail in record time, no matter what quality you have purchased, having exterior painting done recently.
As is the case with exterior painting, color choice is extremely important when it comes to interior painting results. Different colors can make rooms look entirely different. Paint4You would be happy to paint a few test areas to help you choose interior paint colors. Mood is key – When choosing a paint color, think about the mood of the room. Another great way to save money is to hire a painting company to paint the body of your home. Then you can take your time and paint a couple of windows a day, or paint one side of trim a weekend until the project is done.
The best temperature range for exterior house painting is between 65 and 90 degrees. The trick is to allow your paint to cure correctly. Here in Pennsylvania and New Jersey the spring and fall months are the best months—though summer can work also. Below 50 degrees will be too cold, potentially causing the paint to freeze before it cures. If you go above 90 degrees you risk scorching the paint during the curing process. Either scenario will leave you with a visibly damaged finish.
As a rule of thumb, closets and nook areas are usually not included in painting quotes unless you request them specifically.
Great Plains is a Great bunch of people. Allegra did a very thorough walk around with me and wrote up a professional estimate unlike some other companies that just shot me a price. She also provided me with a nice folder containing pictures of previous clients, different options available to save on cost as well as their insurance policy. We ended up agreeing on what I thought was a very reasonable price as I told her I was on a pretty tight budget. Brett and Stetson arrived the next week and did a Great job painting my home. They showed up when they said they would and finished the job when they said they would. I would definitely recommend them to anyone!
What is the definition of a painter? Is it someone that can simply pick up a brush? Perhaps a painter is someone that climbs ladders while applying paint for a living?
Josh, some great work on the renovation, it’s come up really nicely! It’s good to see you stressing the importance of not taking short cuts when it comes to prepping and removing wallpaper. It definitely does lead to more problems down the road when done incorrectly. However there is a caveat on that. If the wallpaper is in good condition and you have primed it properly, you can get away with painting over wallpaper. On a few jobs where the client has been on a tight budget, we have used an oil based primer to really seal the adhesive and keep then moisture from the paint away. Has worked well and we haven’t got any call backs. But I’d still agree with you and always push for stripping back wallpaper where possible. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure as the saying goes. Also, would love to see how your painted popcorn ceilings came up. We call it ‘vermiculite’. Its quite old school and we come across it in school jobs and old buildings occasionally. Jake Beals May 09, 2020
