Wow, this sounds like a really extensive project that you went through! I had no idea that so much effort could go into painting a home. I have been meaning to paint my own home very soon, but I am not sure whether I have the time or the skill to be able to do all of this. I might just try one room to see how I do, and then see if I will be brave enough to attempt the rest. However, it might be a good idea for me to get help with this, otherwise it definitely won’t end up looking as great as yours! http://www.jpspainting.org/About-Us.html Lisa February 25, 2015 A Beautiful Mess February 25, 2015

YES TO SPENDING PLENTY OF TIME DOING PREP WORK. It’s amazing long it takes to get everything ready to even crack open a paint can. It does make a world of difference though. Jenn February 25, 2015

When applying a coat of paint on the exterior, professional painters will look at other larger issues that you might not have noticed. With time, mold, mildew, rotting wood, and water stains can begin to eat into your walls, and regular painting will reveal such damages before they become apparent.
This typically falls in the winter months of November-February each year when painting companies are less busy. Colder weather means fewer exterior painting jobs available for painters which results in more competitive price quotes for interior work.
You should also look at the weather for a few days before you begin to paint because if it rains before your painting day, you need to give your siding several days to dry out before painting. The same applies after you paint- you want to make sure that there will be no rain after painting job since the paint has to be given time to cure properly.
Decide what style you are going for. Rustic might mean more warm tones, whereas modern might include more neutral or cool colors. Choosing a style will help narrow down the range of colors or a specific palette that will convey the look you want. Are there features, tapestries or fixtures in the space that would only match certain colors?
