Josh, thank you for the painstaking detail you use to describe what we painters go through. Especially on a renovation project. Most are not this big but laying out what DIY’ers would be looking at before they start is quite eye opening…we have a painting business and find it helpful when homeowners have outside resources to gather information on… keep up the good work! Another great way to save a bit of extra money on your house paint job is getting a good savings account. If you have short-term financial goals such as getting a new car or a new computer, a high-yield savings account is what you need. Find a bank with good interest rates and keep your money working!

If a contractor is confident about the way they work, they’ll prove it by asking you to judge for yourself, not only at the end of a job, but while work is in progress. Things to look for: Work vehicles: are they clean, organized and professional? The painters: are they neatly dressed and groomed? Materials: are ladders, scaffolding, drop cloths and electrical equipment in good condition? Is work being done carefully so as not to damage landscaping or property?
Good painting contractors may have references from local work that was completed in the past few weeks. But great painting contractors will provide multiple references from both recent and past work. References from a year ago or longer show the paint job’s durability and confirm that any necessary follow-up or billing issues were handled correctly. This establishes trust and reassurance that your selected contractor will follow through.
Painting is a project that many homeowners may be able to do on their own. Aside from basic skills, the hardest thing about painting your own house is the prepwork, standing on ladders, and getting the tools to do the job right. If you’re a handy homeowner who owns a single story home, this is not a hard project. That stated, there are some downsides to DIY exterior painting . It’s not a quick job – expect to take several full days to complete. Prep work and painting is a messy job from beginning to end. Requires a lot of time on a ladder. If you are weary about heights, this is not for you.

One gallon usually covers about 400 square feet. For a room, calculate square feet by multiplying the length times the width. Do the same for the ceiling, if you're painting that, too. And don't forget the trim: multiply the length, in feet, by .5 for the width.
Maybe it was word of mouth, good reviews, a good sanitation score, a clean atmosphere, the professional service, the quality of the food, maybe being close by or locally sourced food also helped? While you were considering all these factors – little did you know – you were qualifying and researching before you chose to give that particular restaurant your business.
But I won't just tell you what to do, or how to do it - I will also explain why, so that you can actually learn to see and use paint and color like a pro.
Just as important power washing is to clean, repair and/or replace is important to exterior paint for proper adhesion. Knowing paint is not smart, and will not grab, hold, adhere to any surface deteriorated.
Wow, you all are hard at work! Major take home- don’t skip the foundation, which is thorough preparation and cleanup. It definitely makes the end result a satisfying one. Thanks for the tips & Happy Wednesday 🙂 Kristin Cook February 25, 2015

The prep work is meticulous, they carefully protect surfaces not meant to be painted, including my beautiful Cordyline plants that touch the wall. They even taped plastic over my cement floor backyard. The quality of the work is great, I don't see any flaws in the paint job, and the paint is quick drying with no overwhelming paint smell. They fixed any minor flaws with the surfaces, applying patches and re-stuccoing as needed. My house looks new again!
