Soundproof paint costs around $50 to $100 per gallon, a price many homeowners are willing to pay for the added noise protection. Soundproof paint is thicker than normal paint, thanks to thermacels with soft pigment and ceramic microspheres. This extra mass causes sound to vibrate, absorbing the waves, so there is less noise overall. An average gallon of interior paint does not have that filler, meaning more sound gets through. The noise protection is a huge advantage, as is the easy application and additional insulation to keep the room warmer. As for disadvantages, the added density means soundproof paint takes longer to dry. It is also meant for blocking airborne sound, not impact noise, so it does not work well on ceilings.
Interior painting can be done year-round as long as the proper precautions are taken. Be sure to use low-VOC or No-VOC water-based paint products to reduce paint fumes. Furthermore, you can set up a box fan temporarily to air out a room quickly.

Interior painting for new construction costs $2 to $5 per square foot depending on the size of the house, the heights of the ceilings, the number of colors used, and the level of detail. Typically, contractors will flat paint and spray the entire home interior one color.
Got plants growing close to your house? You’ll want to protect them from paint drips with a drop cloth or plastic sheeting. Plants that touch the exterior of your building will either need to be removed, trimmed, or tied back so that painters have room to do their job.
Looking forward to trying out some of your painting tips soon! Thanks for the post. Carolyn Selheim-Miller February 25, 2015
You have the time, ability, resources, and help to get the job done quickly and safely. If you’re looking to save money (and deep dive into a DIY project), you should consider tackling the house painting project yourself. Keep in mind that DIY paint projects are best for homes with little to no prep or repair work.

Another great tutorial. You guys really put out some great and helpful posts. I was especially happy to see that you kept the popcorn ceiling! I feel like there is so much pressure to get rid of your popcorn ceiling if you have it, but it is so expensive especially if you have asbestos. It is really such a minor thing I don’t think it should get as much flak as it does. Besides, I am convinced if I wait long enough, the popcorn ceilings will make a comeback;)
An accent wall is a single wall that looks different from the rest. On average, it costs between $70 and $100 to paint one. If you have a room without any noticeable architectural features, painting an accent wall is a great way to spruce up your space. An accent wall should be highly visible and draw people’s attention to it. You have unlimited options when choosing your colors, but remember to try to use that same color throughout decorative features in your home, like pillows, rugs, and furniture.
If you already have painting equipment, then it can be easier to undertake the painting work yourself. However, if you are renting or purchasing them now, you might need to compare the cost of everything with the cost of hiring a professional company.
Rolling, on the other hand, is better for more detailed work. It involves using rollers to manually apply the paint, so it’s more difficult and will take longer. Labor rates for rolling are usually higher than for spraying.

Most painting companies (including our own) do not price work on an hourly basis.

Call us biased, but we think old homes deserve a little respect when it comes to choosing paint colors for both the interiors and exterior. This is not to say that you must stick with that avocado green in your vintage bathroom. But we do think that older homes retain more of their character and charm when colors in keeping with the home’s era are used.
The last thing you want to realize part way through a paint job is that the painting contractors you hired isn’t the professional they told you they were. The best way to make sure this doesn’t happen is ask for the company’s licenses, if they don’t provide them on their own. Local and state licenses are certified proof that a painting contractor is legitimate and knows what he is doing. This way, you’ll have peace of mind that you are aren’t getting scammed and are working with a reputable company.
It is true that you have invested a lot to make your home valuable, but to ensure that its value keeps rising, you need to keep its exterior looking fresh and sharp. An impressive exterior will create a good first impression on visitors and home buyers, which means higher resale value.
