I have a two story home and was given the estimate of $2,200 plus paint. I don't know how much plus paint would be... they would paint all trim, stucco and cedar using Sherwin Williams paint. They also will patch and power wash. Is this a good price, how much extra should I plan on the paint costing? One more factor in cost is what portion of the work you do yourself. For interior painting, if you move furniture and wall hangings, that will lessen cost somewhat. Similarly, if you move any items blocking full access to the exterior areas to be painted, costs will be a little less.
The method employed to paint the exterior will also affect the final cost to change the color of your home. Though spraying paint on siding is an efficient means of painting an exterior, it can be very messy and also involves the use of thin paint which is often lesser in quality, meaning it may not be as durable as other types of painting. Brushes and rollers are also popular options and offer less mess and greater consistency in the finished product.
The cost to paint the exterior of a typical two-story house with wood siding will cost between $1,800 and $3,800 for 1,500 square feet.
Quality paints can also prevent wood from rotting. This helps you to avoid larger exterior house painting costs in the future.
