Believe it or not, there is more that goes into house painting than putting paint on a wall. There is prep work, clean up, priming and other details that must be addressed, which should be included in your initial quote. Before you sign on the dotted line with a painting contractor, you should get a detailed quote that lists all the steps being taken and how much each service will cost, including: Power washing Caulking, sanding and priming Wood or stucco repair (professional contractors will know what needs to be done without you telling them) Details of products and application methods (great contractors know the right products for every job) Touch-ups and cleanup Is the quote printed on company letterhead? Does the sheet show the contractor’s license number? Does he use a local landline phone number (be wary if only a cell phone number is listed)? Tax ID number?
