First, we worked to remove all wallpaper throughout the house. There was a wallpaper border in a couple rooms, so it wasn’t too big of a deal taking it off. I basically scored the paper, wet it, then scraped it off. We did a more in-depth post last year. The main thing to keep in mind when removing wallpaper is to score well, then soak soak soak. The longer you let the paper soak up the removal spray or water, the easier it will peel off! Don’t paint over the wallpaper. Like most short cuts in home repair, it will lead to more problems down the road. Which I ran into in this house. In the dining room, I was removing the wallpaper when I realized somebody had previously painted over wallpaper. In the entire room! Which leads me to the second thing we did.

But before we dive into the topic, let’s find out the difference between an estimate and a quote. Concisely, an estimate represents the best guess as to how much a paint job may cost, whereas a quote is a fixed price offer. This means that a contractor can charge you more or less than the painting estimate provided. As a rule of thumb, a painting contractor should charge a final price close to the initial estimate.

Not every color looks as good on the walls as it does off, but if you know what the room will look like before you commit to the color, you can be certain you’ll love the new look of your home.

If you want to remove peeling or cracking paint, you can sandblast. Follow up this with a power wash and ensure you apply the recommended amount of pressure. After power wash, allow your surfaces to dry completely so that you will have no trapped moisture under your paint.
