These guys just completed my exterior job. Would highly recommend. Every touch point with their team was positive. From the person who answers their phone, to the bidder Allegra, to the crew. They paid attention to detail and listened. They were helpful and patient navigating color selection. They were very responsive to any questions or concerns. Hell they even cleaned up when they left. A+++
Painting two coats wet on dry does not mean one coat one day, and the other coat the next. Once paint has dried to touch a second coat can be applied. The warmer the day, the faster the paint will dry to the touch, which can be top-coated building that 10-13 mills. Also noting that hanging 6-7 mills wet is not a problem with premium exterior paint, premium paints having heavier viscosity. Other less quality paints can sag, run, or drip with far less PVC's in material.
Another great tutorial. You guys really put out some great and helpful posts. I was especially happy to see that you kept the popcorn ceiling! I feel like there is so much pressure to get rid of your popcorn ceiling if you have it, but it is so expensive especially if you have asbestos. It is really such a minor thing I don’t think it should get as much flak as it does. Besides, I am convinced if I wait long enough, the popcorn ceilings will make a comeback;)
Every professional exterior paint job will require sanding paint edges where chips were removed, and old paint is remains. This thickness difference is the actual paint mil, normally 10-15 mils or 10/1000th of an inch. If mil thickness differences are not sanded to a smooth feathered transition, get ready to see after effects, as paint only lays as flat as the substrate it is covering. So, if doing this yourself, good idea taking time, because this is the most labor intensive portion of the job.
Given that an average worker can prepare approximately 50 square feet of wall surface and paint about 150 feet per hour, preparing and painting 2,000 square feet will take around 54 hours. If you multiply 54 hours by $40, which is the average cost per hour for house painting or staining in Florida, it will cost you $2,160 to paint 2,000 square feet of wall surface. Now, if you factor in the cost of the primer and paint, a fair painting estimate should range somewhere between $2,500 and $3,000, with one coat of primer and paint.
