Here, you will discover 10 things you should know before you paint, that can turn dread into success quickly: .
So I read a lot of painting blogs to make sure I understand what my clients want. I gotta say, this post is amazing! You applied what you learned far faster than the majority of my employees ever do. I totally respect what you did because it what I do everyday. I’ll end with this, YES buy higher quality gear people. It makes a huge difference and why would you want all of your time and money to go to waste? Alexis Jaye May 13, 2021

I agree completely — never paint over wallpaper! My house is very old and the original owners had wallpaper (layer upon layer) in every room in the house — even the bathrooms. Then the last owner painted over the wallpaper. Yikes! What a mess. So glad most of it is gone but it was a chore. Thanks for the great tips to painting the house. Quality tools are key (and patience). Skylar Mitchell February 25, 2015
Note on homes built before 1978: Lead paint application was outlawed in 1978. If your home was built before 1978 and needs significant scraping prior to repainting, lead abatement might be required. A widely quoted cost from the US EPA is $8-$15 per square foot for lead abatement which shows just how expensive this can be. Those costs are not included in this estimate of exterior painting costs.
A wrong paint color scheme, on the other hand, can really cheapen and distract from your very expensive kitchen, date your brand new flooring, or make even the most elaborate Victorian exterior look boring, bland and blah.
"I hired Josh Douglas with A Painter's Touch to paint our home several months ago. I am always pretty specific with any contractor I hire because I want to make sure I get what I want and get what I am paying for. Josh had no problem with my specifications and was always on time. The price we set prior to the job, was the price I paid, NO HIDDEN FEES! The job was completed on time. His painting was absolute perfection. I would definitely recommend Josh and A Painter's Touch to anyone and I appreciate his honesty and integrity!"
Choosing the right Peachtree City painting contractor for your home or business doesn't have to be a daunting task. The trick is to make it a point to do your research so that you choose one known for honesty, dependability and quality. My experience with this team was smooth and painless from the beginning. I was able to get an estimate appointment for exterior painting fairly quickly, and James arrived on time and gave me a sense of confidence with the company. Unlike other estimators who simply looked around the property and then tell me to look out for the estimate via email, James took some time to present the company's credentials and explain what the process would be like. He presented references and documents showing they were up to date on their workers comp insurance, and photos of the work in progress to demonstrate the process. It's old school, but I do appreciate it.
Late spring, summer, and early fall are the best times to paint a house exterior. Painting in the fall or early winter is ideal in southern states that stay warm year-round. Optimal painting weather is warm and dry.
We used a 2″ inch angled trim brush which fit perfectly and was small enough to reach areas where the flat brush couldn’t.
Painting a townhouse costs $1,000 to $4,300 on average, depending on the size, siding type, and the number of stories. Painting a townhouse only includes the front and back walls because most townhomes share one or both sidewalls with neighboring units.
As highly skilled and professional painters, we perform these preparation steps on each job that we perform. This allows us to start with a clean slate which will end up in a far superior finished product. Skipping these important steps before painting will always result in an inferior paint job.
So, how much does professional painting cost? We’ve put together a guide to explain the variables that affect the cost of painting your home—interior or exterior, whole house or touch-ups, and interior painting cost per square foot or per hour. By understanding what goes into calculating professional painting costs, you'll be better prepared to set a budget and stick with it.
